The proposed solar farm is located in
ward 32 Chatsworth Business Centre.
100MW solar farm shall be in Gutu
District at the proposed Chatsworth 300
hectare council farm. Power generation
shall be 100MW using solar technology.
Gutu Rural District Council is looking
for a Joint Venture to partner with.
Project Objectives
The proposed project should be able
to:
1. Improve standards of living of the
community through provision of
electricity.
2. To provide efficient & reliable
electricity to the investors.
3. Sell power to ZESA therefore
saving the country foreign currency
as ZESA will reduce its imported
power supply.
4. The solar project will generate
additional tax revenue for the
government through Company tax,
VAT and PAYE
5. The Solar project will create
2,500 jobs for locals in Gutu and
Zimbabwe.
Location
The location of the project is mainly
influenced by the following factors:
1. Accessibility
2. There is existing major power line
and a substation which is a major
requirement of the project.
3. The location is ±270km to Harare.
